Purpose: The bill would make changes to the provisions of the WV Code relating to the membership of the WV Municipal Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement System. The bill makes non-substantive technical changes and also clarifies by making consistent the time in which a person becomes a member of the system as when that person is “hired” and not “first employed.”

Notes: This bill was introduced at the request of the WV Consolidated Public Retirement Board. This bill was reported out of the Committee on Pensions and Retirement without amendment.

Committee Action: The Committee on Finance reported a Committee Substitute for the bill that included the provisions of HB2505 contained in §8-22A-6 to avoid a code conflict.
